Stay with me!

On Saturday night Daddy had a praise night at the church.  After numerous days of you asking “where’s Daddy” and the answer being “practicing music at church”, I guess you decided to join in.  You found a microphone in a stash of extra stuff that Daddy had behind the piano at the church.  When I found you, you were hidden behind the piano holding the microphone and singing your little heart out.  I asked what you were doing and you seriously told me “practicing music”.

Grandpa and Grandma Shepherd were here last week.  Their dog Maggie stayed at our house and they stayed at Alana’s house.  You love Maggie to pieces (and are quite sad that she went home).  Even though Maggie is gone home, you still seem to want to keep the gate up into the kitchen.  I think you keep pretending that Maggie is here.  You had fun with Grandpa and Grandma too.  It didn’t take long at all for you to warm up to them.  In fact, you would cry when we would go in the car if Grandma didn’t sit beside you.  You and Grandpa danced your way through Loblaws the other night while Grandma and I shopped.  It was very cute.  Over and over you cooked Grandpa tea and soup.  It was great seeing the two of you playing together.

On Friday we had a birthday party for Grandpa.  You helped Mommy get a cake and a present for him, and by the time of the party you were one excited girl.  Everybody met at Jean’s Restaurant for dinner.  After amazing Thai/Malaysian food (the rice noodles were a bit hit with you and your dad), we came back to our house for the cake.  It’s a good thing you and Alana were here because Grandpa needed your help to blow out all the candles on his cake!  Later when you and Alana were ready for bed, the two of you sat together in the rocking chair until Auntie Hiroko called Alana to go home.  You threw your arms around Alana’s neck and pleaded “don’t go Lani.  stay with me”.  It was so cute and sad.

Last night we were trying to figure out what to do for supper.  Daddy and I said “Ekko what do you want to eat”?  And you yelled “NOODLES”.  So of course we went to Mimi’s for noodle soup.  Auntie Becky and Uncle Aldo came with us.  My poor starving child you sure ate a lot.  They came home with us after for a while and when it was time for them to go home, you kept pulling on Uncle Aldo telling him he had to stay with you.  You assured him that he could sleep in the kitchen like Maggie did.  For some reason he seemed inclined to go home and sleep in his own bed inspite of your tears.

One other funny thing happened last night while they were all here.  Everybody was drinking coffee except for Mommy.  You asked me why I didn’t have one, and I told you because it wasn’t good for the baby in my tummy for me to drink too much coffee.  You nodded very seriously and then you told Uncle Aldo you couldn’t have coffee either because you have a baby in your tummy.  What a silly cutie!

I love you my cutie. – Mommy
