I love my daddy

Hey big school girl!  You have finished two whole weeks of school.  Man are you tired!  This afternoon you said to me that you wanted to go to bed.  I was still feeding Zoe when you finished eating and you just got up from the table and left.  When I went to look for you, you were already sound asleep in your bed.  Poor little girl.  But you seem to like school so far so that is a good thing.  You seem to like the cut and paste space the best (no surprise there) and the games in gym class.  That's at least what you talk about the most.

Sara and Dietmar were here from Germany to visit us.  They brought you a cute pig.  You take "Finger Paint" all over with you now.  It is so nice to have friends come and visit!  I'm glad you have so many adults that love you.

This past weekend we went away for our church retreat.  Of course you were excited about our holiday.  You told Viorica though that we were going to Calgary (I think you believe that is the only holiday destination we have.).  It was great fun.  One of the best parts was when you, Claire Pertulla and I went canoeing.  It took you a few minutes of scary mommy tremendously before I managed to convince you that you have to sit really still in a canoe.  You really enjoyed it a lot though.  You also liked playing with all the other little girls.  It is so great to see you having such fun with kids your age.  One of the high light moments of the weekend was when all the little kids were getting up to the microphone to say the Bible verse they had memorized.  When you got there you took the microphone confidently and said loudly and clearly "I love my daddy".  The whole place clapped for you.  It was pretty cute even if it wasn't the Bible verse.

Last night we ordered in Chinese food because I was pooped after our weekend away.  One of the dishes was rice and pork.  Of course we ordered that specially for Daddy.  Today he opened the container and it was almost all gone.  He started complaining about what happened to his rice.  You looked at him and said "you ate it daddy".  It was really funny.

I love you love you love you Ekko Alea.  You are the bestest in the westest. – Mommy

  1. Hey, you bestest Ekko ever!

Itw as great to see you! And I’m so sad that I don’t see you more often, because it’s just not the same level of closeness with kids your age when I only get to see you once a year.

But it’s still heaps and heaps of fun!!! You tell stories about all sorts of interesting and funny things. It’s just wonderful to talk to you and then have the conversation all go a bit surreal and absurd. And I’m so glad that you like your piggy. Dietmar put quite the effort in to find this one. And then you had to open the parcel at a “secret place”.

It’s wonderful to see how excited you get when your Daddy comes home (Zoe gets pretty excited too, I tell you!).

It’s a bit sad that school makes you all tired. I hope it gets better. You are probably the only child I know that can sleep in forever and ever! And when you finally wake up, you still claim you’re tired!

I love you, Ekko-Bekko, just you remember that! And I soooo look forward to seeing you hopefully next year again!
