5!

So beautiful and so growed up you are. Today we played hookey and hung out. At Riverdale Farm you got to hang out with a goat for a bit. She tried eating your jacket. It sure made you laugh. Of course we had to spend a chunk of time looking at the pig.

I finally posted your birthday party pics. Daddy took a bunch of video so there weren’t that many pics but there is at least some of the pig cake that you so desparately wanted. And the making of the puppets. That seemed to be a bunch of fun. I think the best part of it all was seeing you look so happy. That was my goal.

A scientist came to your school yesterday so today you are a fountain of wisdom. You have been trying to teach the rest of us about our five senses. Including, which parts of our tongues are able to taste what types of stuff. When Laurie was watching you the other night she commented on how interested you are in science. Laurie is studying to be a speech pathologist and was explaining to you some stuff about human anatomy and lungs/heart/swallowing stuff and you were just eating it all up. Way to go my smart girl.

On Sunday we sang “O Canada” as part of our church’s Remembrance Day service. It was marvelous seeing you up there at the front looking so proud. You snuck back to me half way through the kids’ stuff to inform me that you had sung all the words because you knew them all from school. I was so proud of you too.

As a big sister, you are right up there with Auntie Garfus. Today you got Zoe dressed. You even picked out her wardrobe. She calls you “my Ek, Ek” and you mother her like a little hen. (at least half the time, but some days you say WHY DO I HAVE A SISTER?)

These days your favourite school friend is Sophie and you spend ages at night writing her letters to put in your backpack for the next day. Seems like you have a bunch of school friends. One of the jk mothers asked me this week if you were Ekko. When I said yes, she said she wanted to know because her son talks about you all the time. Apparently he is shy and doesn’t really play with the other kids yet being just barely four, but for some reason he talks about you. You help him with his crafts. You help him with his coat. You let him play with you. His mom thought you were pretty wonderful for making Alex feel so happy at school. When I mentioned this to you, your comment was that Alex was little and cute so of course you helped him.

At Halloween I was super proud of you. You are a lot like your dad. From early fall on you were determined to wear a dog costume. When we got to school on the 31st in costume, you realized that half of your classmates were dressed up as princesses. Now I was a child who was subject to peer pressure. You looked at all those princesses and said “good thing I didn’t dress as a princess” and happily spent the afternoon wearing your dog costume. Way to go my independent girl.

Love you loads and loads. – Mommy
