New house. Almost done…

One of your favourite phrases these days is “almost done”.  Do I say that a lot?  Anyway, we are living in our new house and we are almost done with the boxes.  We like our new house a lot.  You really love it.  Pretty much every day you spend a huge chunk of the day driving your tricycle and cars on the back deck.  This past weekend your friend Alida Malloy was here from Ottawa and the two of you had a ball together.  We had to get the swimming pool filled and out in the yard for you as well.  Alida’s mommy is pregnant too (same due date time as well) so the mommies enjoyed just sitting in the shade on the deck while the two of you played so well together.  I think you were sad to see them leave.  You kept saying “I like Alida” and hugging her good bye.

Yesterday we went shopping for a few minutes because mommy needed some more pregnant shorts.  It is getting too hot for me.  You were so helpful.  You found a shirt and pair of shorts for yourself that you thought I should buy.  The biggest excitement about the shorts was that they were actually capris and had pockets on the leg around the knee area.  Now according to your enthusiastic squeals of glee, the reason you needed these pants was because Pooky has ones just like it!  (except Pooks’ aren’t hot pink).  You like shopping and picking out your own things now.  I don’t know if that is a good thing considering you are only two.  We also needed a new bathing suit for you because you are getting so tall.  Anyway, you found a blue one with fish on it.  That was all you needed.  You are a little fish fanatic.  Speaking of fish, the goldfish on our kitchen table are doing well with the move and all.  You take such good care of them.

Lately when we go to pray before our meals you no longer want to pray.  But you do like to do all the add ons to whatever mommy or daddy pray.  Like as we finish praying you always add “Bless Al and make him feel better.  And bless Auntie’s cat and make her feel better too.”  Al has been very sick for a long time but it seems to help Al smile when he knows that you always remember to pray for him.  And Auntie’s cat is almost all better after her operation.  May be because you prayed so much for her.

On Saturday we dug up a little strip in our front yard to plant some flowers.  It used to be a garden but had gotten quite overgrown.  Anyway, you were helping Mommy and it seemed like a bunch of the neighbour kids like gardening too as they all came around.  One little boy’s name is David and he’s about your age.  The two of you seemed to enjoy gardening together.  I hope you make good friends on our street.  There seems to be a lot of kids here.  And now you are pretty proud of your garden.  You like to tell people about how you help mommy.  You are the best beauty!

Another thing you like to say a lot is “be patient Mommy”.  You have been told that enough that you like to pass it on.  Sometimes Mommy needs to hear it too!  The other thing that I find really funny is about my nose.  One of the windows dropped down on my nose when I went to close it.  When I tried to slide it down, it came out like it should to get cleaned.  Anyway, it smashed me in the nose and left a lovely bruise and cut.  Every time you look at my nose you tell me “Mom, don’t ever do that again” (in such a stern voice).

That’s all I can think of for now but I wanted to write a little bit this morning.  My girlie is growing up so fast that I need to keep track of some of it!

Love you lots Ekko! – Mommy
