Lolo and Lola go home

My big growing up girl.  I love you so much.  You get more grown up all the time.  It is hard to explain but you seem to be a bit older and more mature every few days.

Lolo and Lola have just gone home.  They were visiting us for a couple of weeks.  You really enjoyed their visit.  Lolo built a shed for us outside and you had a lot of fun “helping” him.  You also seemed to eat up all the attention Lola would give you especially when you did your puzzles.  Lola would say “Ekko I’m so proud of you” and your little face would glow.  Now you like to tell Mommy that you are so proud of me.  It is so cute!  They’ll be back for your birthday time in October so you can practice a few more tricks for then.

Jesse came home from Greece and is getting settled into our basement.  That makes you happy too.  Last night you were ecstatically jumping on his new futon.  You were thrilled that we were all together again.

Al’s funeral was Friday morning.  It is hard to explain to you at this age about death.  Mommy tried to tell you that Al was too sick to get better anymore so Jesus invited Al to come home and live with him.  That was a good thing for Al but sad for us because we would miss him.  When we went to go to the funeral, you were going to stay home with Lolo and Lola.  You got a bit upset that we were leaving you home because you told me “I love Al too.  I need to go see Freda.”  And the first question Freda asked me as she hugged me was “where is our girl”.  You had a special relationship with them.  Lots of amazing people love/loved you my girlie.  Al was one of them as Daddy said.  I wish you could remember him.  When you were tiny and not able to eat, he would pray and pray for you.  Every little thing that you did they thought was brilliant and cheered you on with great enthusiasm.  When Al first got sick, you would hold his hands while we prayed for Al.  It would make him cry with joy how much you loved him back.  When we went to their house, they would feed you tea like all the adults because that is what you wanted.  And they kept special cookies in their cupboard for you and Al.  I know you won’t remember him dolly but I do want you to know that you were loved passionately but a wonderful man who prayed for you a lot.

Sara sent a beautiful little sweater that she made for our new baby.  You were so excited that you carried it around for half the day saying “I’m just holding this now so that when the baby comes out of your tummy we can put the sweater on and keep it warm.”

Auntie Becky and Uncle Aldo just arrived so I better go.  Take care my beauty. – Love, Mommy

  1. Hey Cutie!

It’s so sad to hear that your friend Al died. He sounds like such a great guy to have around and be loved by. A big comforting hug for all of you…

I’m glad the little sweater found your approval, Ekko. I just hope it will fit at the right time of the year.

Lots of love to all of you guys! I miss you…
    Sara
