Sick girl

You are sick with a bad cough so my girl, you’re quite tired.  This cough keeps waking you up no matter how well we try to drug you and all that stuff.  Mom and Dad are tired too.

Yesterday you were happy because we went out for dim sum with Jesse.  It was two happy events for you rolled into one.  Jesse is one of your favourite people.  And dim sum makes you about as happy as it makes your mom and dad.  You sure have good taste in food my girl.  You also really like the place because of all the goldfish ponds.  I think they must hand feed the fish because every time someone leans over the water the fish break the surface with their mouths open.  You kept apologizing to them for not having brought food.

On Friday night we had some people over for supper.  Graham is four and Claire is eight (I think).  You guys had so much fun playing together.  Such a people person you are.  Friday also was a sunny day so we spent time at the park with Auntie Becky.  You met another neighbour kid your age and had a lot of fun playing in the sand.  It’s funny when we walk to the park now because you point out the spring flowers to Mommy and Auntie.  You even are starting to call them the right names (red tulips, purple crocuses).  Poor daddy will now have to fake enthusiasm about flowers to two of us!

Thursday at music class there was a new boy.  His name is Brando and he doesn’t really speak much English yet.  Brando though was very enamoured with you.  He had to hold your hand for as long as you put up with it.  Being a bit more stout than you, Brando was able to drag you around the room very easily.  It was hilarious because he’d stop and look at you, sigh, and say “bellisimo” before kissing your hand.  Apparently, his mom told me, he was overcome with your beauty and really liked your long ponytail.  Ah my girl.  Daddy wasn’t very happy to hear about this boy interest already.

You are so interested in babies.  There is a lady at church with twin girls that are about 4 months old.  They are quite cute.  You love just sitting and stroking their faces.  Yesterday you asked if we could bring one home because that mommy has two!  You are also starting to ask lots of questions about the baby in my tummy.  The other night you wanted to know if the baby had a soother in there.  I said no, it sucked it’s tumb in my tummy.  We could get it a soother when it comes out.  You have repeated this conversation to everybody since.  You have also asked if the baby cries and told me when it comes out you could put it on your shoulder and sing “Hush little baby” to it.  I think you’re going to be such a great big sister!  Last night I told you that we have to go to the doctor today to see how the baby is doing.  You made me lie down and pretended to check me out.  Then you kissed my tummy.  When I asked you what the kiss was for, you said it was for the baby.  What a sweetie.

I love you dolly – Mommy

    Hi Dolly,

Last night we went to throw “money in the mountain” :). We had lots of fun throwing pennies in the fountain and then we went and looked at books at Coles. It was fun to see you laugh, smile and have fun even when you weren’t feeling well. On the way you told me, “I love you too Auntie!” I love you my girl! I hope you feel better soon.

    Love, Auntie

P.S. Those Italian boys have good taste, eh?
